An evening’s homage to Telecommunications

On the 21st of May this year, the annual event to commemorate Telecommunications took place at the Jauregia restaurant at the Palacio Euskalduna in Bilbao.  This event is organized by the Colegio Oficial de Ingenieros de Telecomunicaciones del País Vasco (Official Society of Telecommunications, País Vasco) where the principle representatives from both the public sector and major manufacturers, integrators and carriers in the Telecommunications sector attended.

 

In attendance this year, to name a few, were the Councilor for the Ministry of Justice and Public Administration of the Basque Country; the Dean of UPV/EHU, Iñaki Goirizelaia; the Regional Director of Telefónica, Spain, Óscar Alegría; the chairman and Managing Director of Euskaltel, AIberto García Erauzkin; the Sales Director of Ericsson, Carlos Hidalgo, and many other important professionals in this field.

 

During the dinner four awards were presented to determined companies for outstanding contributions to the Telecommunications sector over the past year.  The deciding jury was made up of various members of the Board of Directors of the official regional body of Telecommunications and chaired by the President of COITPV, Juan Luis Ordiales.

The ICT Aplicada award went to Virtualware, the ICT Empresa Junior to Innovate & Transport with the ICT Premio Empresa being won by Idom.

 

The Society went on to present Teldat with the prestigious Innovation 2010 Award (for the most creative idea of the year) for their innovative i-Router, a communications device designed to provide solutions to many communication difficulties currently found in both the residential and educational sectors.  Oscar Alegría, the Regional Director of Telefónica presented the award and at the same time expressed how delighted and proud he was to be present Teldat with this merited prize and the fact that he had had the great pleasure and very positive experience of collaborating with them.

 

Antonio García Marcos, President of the Teldat Group, received the award on behalf of the company and during his acceptance speech thanked all present for their very positive experience in the Basque Country and for the warm welcome the Teldat had received.

 

The Teldat Group was also represented by Emilio Lanuza, the Sales Director of Teldat and Mario Aguilar, both of whom, together with Antonio Garcia Marcos, had the opportunity to talk to various representatives from companies in the sector such as Alcatel, Aastra, Eriksson, etc., after dinner.
