Why Teldat?

This “single box” ensures high throughput processing, to handle large data volumes without loss, bottlenecks, nor cybersecurity risks. It integrates:

Challenge

SELAE needed to modernize its communications with a dual-WAN solution across nearly 11,000 lottery retail outlets in Spain. The goal was to combine fiber and 5G networks, with 5G essential to ensure specific business needs—for example, protecting against potential mobile network saturation.

The new deployment also had to meet additional challenges. Compliance with NIS2 regulatory requirements was critical to guarantee operational continuity and effective response to cyberattacks or technology incidents. This meant safeguarding not only the WAN and data centers but also ensuring consistent security and threat control across all SELAE retail outlets.

In addition, SELAE wanted a next-generation connectivity solution with advanced SD-WAN services to optimize network management and enable more effective tool deployment.

Together with Telefónica, Teldat delivered a complete solution that addressed all of SELAE’s needs for their retail outlets —covering fiber, 5G, cybersecurity, and advanced SD-WAN.

Solution

Teldat delivered a comprehensive solution from multiple angles. At its core is the Teldat M10-5G communications router, which integrates SD-WAN management and an embedded NGFW.

For routing, it provides fiber as the primary connection at SELAE’s nearly 11,000 retail outlets, while also offering 5G with Network Slicing as a secure and reliable backup. Teldat is the only manufacturer able to leverage Telefónica’s Network Slicing, ensuring dependable cellular connectivity for a network of SELAE’s scale. This architecture enables the multiplexing of independent virtual networks on the same infrastructure.

The M10-5G also incorporates an embedded NGFW prepared for Teldat be.Safe Pro, which can deliver a full suite of cybersecurity features. These can include advanced protections such as IPS, anti-malware, sandboxing and ZTNA.

At a broader level, Teldat provides a unified management console that oversees both cybersecurity and advanced SD-WAN communications.
