In my opening blog post this year I wrote about the many issues the market seemed to indicate would be important in 2018. Obviously, I mentioned SD-WAN technology, 5G and Big Data, and I also talked about Artificial Intelligence (AI) and a few others. However, there is one area that I did not mention, which is intent-based networking (IBN). Perhaps it may be early to call 2018 the year of intent-based networking, but some important analysts have said that this is one of the next big things to come!
Carriers today are faced with spiraling changes in the WAN market. For varying reasons, it’s a market that takes an individualized approach to each type of customer. From the residential sector to large corporations, the number of access circuits to the Internet make up a huge part of the telecommunication carriers’ business in Spain. Having said this, what progress is being made in the business? How can the carriers meet the demands and needs present in the market?
Once again Christmas comes to an end and the New Year of 2018 starts to set in. And for those of us within the telecommunications sector it is important to know that this new year 2018 is forecasted to bring us more change, development and larger growth.
Virtualization technologies, Cloud (private or public), “Software-defined whatever” not only bring simplicity and flexibility to systems and communications management, but also require the full automation of company IT systems.
Whether due to startup costs, lack of scalability, or because it hasn´t been specifically designed for small businesses, up to now, it hasn´t been clear how SMEs could benefit from SD-WAN technology.
